News of an all-new seventh generation take on Microsoft’s successful Forza Motorsport driving sim franchise would normally be news enough for the likes of a gathering such as E3. Over the years though, we’ve learned Dan Greenawalt and the team behind Forza are anything but cruise controllers. Add in the more recent Porsche tie-in (from the NY Auto Show earlier this spring), and likely Zuffenhausen’s own want to change the game when it comes to new model intros and you have the makings of a very interesting presentation… including the all-new Porsche 911 GT2.

Since this is E3, let’s focus on Forza Motorsport 7 first. Not surprisingly, the team behind the game share that this is their most realistic and impressive version of the game to date, including true 4K and 60 frames per second delivery thanks to Xbox One X. That’s both awesome, and fair warning that you’ll likely have to invest in a new gaming console given Forza 7 was built from the ground up for Xbox One X.

Here are some basic stats. The game includes 700 ForzaVista cars. With these you’ll be able to do the usual racing, customization, etc. This’ll also now include customization through the addition of a massive race gear collection that planners say “includes hundreds of options spanning decades of race history and pop culture”.

Of course, one of those cars is the new 2018 Porsche 911 GT2 RS. Porsche’s skipping the usual auto show reveal this time around for its post powerful 911 ever. A few weeks ago, an über short list of car enthusiast outlets were invited to get a test ride in the car with Porsche’s head of GT product Andreas Preuninger at the wheel. Cars in those photos were still outfitted as test mules, though what appeared on stage for the first time to the public is the undisguised final 911 GT2 RS in all its glory.

No doubt more will drop on the car soon, and we wouldn’t be surprised to see it show up unexpectedly at the 24 Hours of Le Mans that runs this coming weekend.
