28 November 2016 – Hublot thrilled the Abu Dhabi F1 GP crowds this year with a big bang, on Yas Marina’s largest and most luxurious yacht, the Titania. CEO of Hublot Ricardo Guadalupe and Regional Director Hublot Middle East & Africa Marco Tedeschi welcomed celebrity friends and guests including singers Lionel Richie, Rihanna and Drake, Hublotistas and members of the press on November 25, 26 and 27, for an exciting and fun weekend filled with precision, accuracy and innovation. Crowning the 2016 F1 season, the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix was the perfect occasion to unveil the latest Big Bang Ferrari collection, coming to the region straight from its launch in Maranello Italy!

From Friday’s practice sessions to the season’s last chequered flag on Sunday, the three-day weekend celebration of the Grand Prix finale left no sense unstimulated. Against a backdrop of revving engines and roaring mechanical fury, brand management, A-list celebrities and special guests gathered in an electrifying atmosphere aboard the 73m super yacht to witness F1 history being made once again.

Ricardo Guadalupe commented: “Since its inception, the partnership between Hublot and Ferrari has been a fusion of perfection, innovation and state-of-the-art materials. That is why we are happy to present today the latest Big Bang Ferrari collection, a new milestone in our collaboration with the iconic scuderia.”

“The Middle East has been setting itself as the newcomer in the automotive and horology worlds. The Abu Dhabi F1 Grand Prix is one of the year’s most awaited events and we are proud to be here to cheer for our partners Ferrari with our new Big Bang Ferrari,” says Marco Tedeschi.

Since the collaboration with Ferrari began back in 2011, each new Hublot Ferrari edition has embodied the constant quest for innovation, excellence and performance that unites these two brands. The Big Bang Ferrari is no exception. Taking inspiration from the innovative volumes and iconic design of the most recent Ferrari models, Ferrari and Hublot have redesigned the contours of the Big Bang Unico model.

The best of both worlds
This new design combines Hublot’s cutting-edge ideas and Ferrari’s design language. The perfect silhouette and proportions highlight the new architecture of the Big Bang Ferrari, featuring highly functional yet stylish details.

Dial
The minute counter and date window at 3 o’clock are designed like a car tachometer and style of the date is inspired by a Ferrari speed dial. The Prancing Horse logo features discreetly at 6 o’clock. At 9 o’clock, the seconds counter is in the shape of an air extractor. The hour and minute hands, which have been completely redesigned, offer improved readability. Instead of being positioned horizontally, the numerals are now positioned in line with the indices, which seem to float above the dial, giving the whole piece a 3D look.

Case
Forming a subtle yet perfect balance between innovative volumes and slender, functional forms, the contours of the bezel have been redesigned with countersunk notches for the 6 screws; a more ergonomic form that protects the screws and looks as if taken directly from an integrated control unit.

Profile
On the crown side, the case middle features a red line detail, recalling the iconic groove to the rear of the LaFerrari model. The elongated push-buttons are fixed to a rotating staff like the pedals on a car. Marked with the Hublot logo, the crown has a much more integrated and ergonomic crown guard. It evokes the characteristic form of the TPE (Turbo Performance Engineer) set in the centre of the Ferrari dashboard. The other profile is inspired by the styling of Ferrari cars. The name “Ferrari” is emblazoned in bright red across the watch’s now iconic sandwich-like case construction.

Movement
The Big Bang Ferrari is equipped with a Unico movement – the Hublot Manufacture movement that integrates a flyback chronograph with column wheel positioned on the dial side. The oscillating weight echoes the iconic star spoke design of the Ferrari wheel rims, while the main plate, bridges and oscillating weight are all treated with black PVD and can be seen through the dial and sapphire case-back.

Limited edition
Measuring 45 mm in diameter and available in titanium (1000 pieces), King Gold (500 pieces) and uni-directional carbon (500 pieces), the Big Bang Ferrari has a strap made from black alcantara on black rubber, with red over-stitching in the style of Ferrari upholstery or in black Schedoni leather in reference to the iconic design of Ferrari seats.

A fusion of style and functionality
The new design perfectly accentuates the curves of the Big Bang, down to the smallest detail.

UNICO movement
Designed, developed, machined and assembled by the micro-mechanics, engineers and watchmakers at Hublot.Flyback chronograph (can be reset at any time – unique in the watchmaking industry), two push-buttons, with date indicator, mechanism with double clutch and “column wheel” visible on the dial side. The hour counter is driven directly by the barrel and there is no jumper in the chronograph mechanism: this boosts reliability and robustness. Its pallet fork and escapement wheel are fixed to a removable platform and made from silicon, whose lightness provides a guarantee of performance. 330 components. Frequency 4 Hz (28,800 Vib/h), 72-hour power reserve.
